Writing Wyoming : Life on the Mountains and High Plains

When participants leave the workshop, they will have a strong framework and approach for writing creatively about matters of great importance to them as Wyoming citizens, drawing on their own knowledge and experience to add their voices critically and meaningfully to ongoing, community and state conversations—some, through the venue of publication.

Howe is the author of “Cloudshade: Poems of the High Plains” and “Voices at Twilight: A Poet’s Guide to Wyoming Ghost Towns.” She has taught English and creative writing workshops for the last decade at the University of Wyoming and Laramie County Community College (Laramie and Cheyenne campuses). She holds a Bachelor’s degree in English and Spanish, a Master’s degree in English, an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from UW. Howe is a doctoral candidate in Literacy Studies at UW with a focus on critical thinking skills and creativity for struggling writers. She teaches workshops for the Wyoming Latina project and the Wyoming Writing Project, and has been a guest poet on Wyoming Public Radio. She is editor-in-chief for “Clerestory: Poems of the Mountain West,” which is dedicated to showcasing the work of Wyoming writers.
