Reading is Fundamental

  • Date(s): Wednesday, February 13th 2008
  • Time: 6:30 p.m.
  • Location: Niobrara County Library

The Friends of the Library will present the first of three Reading is Fundamental (RIF) programs on Wednesday, February 13 at 6:30 p.m.

Children from preschool age on up are invited to join us for a skit featuring the fun-loving “Amelia Bedelia” (based on the book, “Amelia Bedelia” by Peggy Parish and Herman Parish) Students from the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) will present this skit and crafts and snacks will also be a part of the evening.

The best part about this hour-long program is that children are able to select their very own book to take home and keep.

RIF is a federal program that has been in existence since 1966. The program focuses on encouraging children to read by showing them that reading is truly fun. Through RIF, children have the opportunity to choose their very own book by themselves; books that excite them and books that they get to keep for their own. The program also encourages parental involvement and we encourage parents to participate with their children. Friends of the Library RIF programs will also be held March 12 and April 9, 2008.
