Ray and Jackie Maple of Cody, will portray early area horse thief Tom O’Day and sidekick Bronco Nell in a special program September 19 at 6:30 p.m. at the library. Acting the parts of turn-of-the-century criminals and colorful Western residents, complete with period costumes, Ray and Jackie will take you back to the early days of Wyoming. Ray Maple will relive tales of the outlaw days in early Wyoming, when O’Day ran with Butch Cassidy and the Wild Bunch, who called him “Peep” because O’Day would be sent ahead of a holdup to case the bank. Jackie will retell the stories of Bronco Nell, an early day freighter from Meeteetse and miss-brander of horses who was among the last women to serve in the penitentiary in Rawlins. This couple has been named as Park County Wyoming’s Cowboy and Cowgirl AMBASSADORS by the Park County Commission. This program, sponsored by The Friends of the Library, is sure to be enjoyed by the entire family.
