Peet Indian Head Dress

I would like to share the story behind the Head dress that George Earl Peet wore in the Legend of the Rawhide.

The youngest daughter of Sitting Bull, named Standing Holy, presented this Lakota head dress to my Grandfather some time during his early manhood. I have not been able to establish any dates. I only know that he was very proud of this head dress. Upon George's death in 1970, the head dress was given to my father, Donald D. Peet. Upon my father's death the head dress was given to his favorite niece, Charlene Dickson, who lives in Deland, FL. When Charlene found out that I was the last living male descendant of George Earl, she wanted me to have it. It is presently stored in a sealed jewelry case.

Update, September 28, 2012
This head dress, in addition to other items, have been donated by Richard Johnson to the Stagecoach Museum in Lusk, and are now on display at that location.
