Roy Elkins Dies From Heart Seizure In Lost Springs

Roy Elkins, 71, of Keeline died suddenly from a heart seizure at Lost Springs Thursday afternoon. Funeral services were held Monday at 2:00 p.m. from Peet Chapel with Rev. Otha B. Holcomb, pastor of the Lusk First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial was made in the Lusk Cemetery.

A mixed quarter composed of Mrs. A. F. DeCastro, Mrs. Otha B. Holcomb, Rex Yocum and Joe Mills sang "Old Rugged Cross" and "Abide With Me." Mrs. J. P. Watson was organist.

Active pallbearers were Henry Amend, Harry Miller, Warren Freeman, John Amend, Dan Diehlman, and Marvin Skillings.

Roy Elkins, the son of Frank and Hannah Suttcliff Elkins, was born at New London, Iowa, October 10, 1885. He attended school there. He came to the Manville community in 1905 and was employed on the Spaugh and Hitshew ranches. He homesteaded south of Keeline in 1907 and has been a resident of that vicinity almost continuously since.

Mr. Elkins and Ida Grace Mack were married in Lusk February 16, 1918. They were the parents of one son, Carl. He died in November 1948.

Survivors include his wife, Grace, one brother, one half-brother, and one half-sister.

His parents previously died.
