Pierre Etchemendy

Pierre Etchemendy, died at his home in Montrose November 5. Rosary was recited November 8 and Mass of Christian burial was celebrated by Rev. Tom Adrians from St. Mary's Catholic Church the following day with burial in Grand View Cemetery in Montrose.

Pierre Etchemendy was born August 5, 1896, at Arneguy, France, the son of Jean and Grace Harriet Etchemendy. He received his education in his native land and served in the French army from 1914-1918. On February 1, 1929, he married Anna Inchauspe and they were the parents of four children.

Mr. Etchemendy came to the United States in 1920, locating in Buffalo, Wyo. six years later he returned to France, but came back to the U.S. in 1929 and moved to Montrose. In 1950 he purchased a ranch north of Lost Springs and continued interest in it until 1980, spending summers in the area and winters in Colorado.

Mr. Etchemendy is survived by a daughter Mrs. Kenneth (Grace) Johnson of Montrose; his two sons, Prosper of Lusk and George of Lost Springs, 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. His daughter Eveleen Maurer and her two daughters were killed in a highway accident in 1975 and his wife died August 26, 1980.

Mr. and Mrs. Prosper Etchemendy, Shanale, Michelle, Mike and Kyra and Mr. and Mrs. George Etchemendy, Deniz, George, Clarice and Colette attended the funeral.
