Charles L. Abbott

Graveside services for Charles L. Abbott, 78 of Newcastle, were held October. 8, 1999, at Fairview Cemetery in Oral, S.D., with Rev. Fred Creason as officiant.

Charles Abbott died Oct. 5, 1999, in Rapid City, S.D., after a short illness.

Charles was born Aug. 14, 1921, to James and Nettie (Musser) Abbott at Tilden, Neb. He moved to South Dakota at age 8 and grew up in the Oelrichs area. He married Madoline Martin on March 15, 1941. He served in the army during WWII in the European campaign.

He moved to Wyoming in 1946, where he worked construction and oilfield until his retirement. He loved to work with horses and to fish.

He is survived by his wife Madoline of Newcastle; two sons, Eugene Abbott of Sheridan and Larry Abbott of Sidney, Mont.; two daughters, Lillian Ames of Gillette and Sharon Robidoux of Moorcroft; a sister Doris Halls of Newcastle; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, a daughter and one granddaughter.

Isburg-McColley's Chapel of the Hills, Hot Springs, S.D. was in charge of arrangements.
