Lissman died on Nov. 3, 2005, at Presbyterian St. Luke's in Denver. Visitation hours were held on Tuesday and Wednesday at the Colyer Funeral Home. Those who wish may direct memorial contributions in Mr. Lissman's memory to the Lyman Fire and Rescue or to a charity of the donor's choice.

He was born on June 3, 1940, in Scottsbluff, Neb., the son of John and Reba (Sandlian) Lissman. He grew up and received his education in Huntley, graduating from there in 1959. He then attended Goshen County Community College for two years and then worked for a short time with the Wyoming Highway Department. He married Judy Bowers on June 23, 1963, in Torrington and the couple only recently divorced.

In 1964, Gary bought a ranch in the Huntley area and took great pride in running a cow/calf operation along with haying for his own livestock. He also worked campaigns at Holly Sugar during the early years of ranching. Gary was still active at the ranch at the time of his death. He enjoyed playing cards and having coffee with his friends, but he especially liked making quick trips to spend time with his family.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Joe McLeod of Elko, Nev.; a son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Johnna Lissman of Cheyenne; his mother, Reba Daily of Huntley; a brother Bob Daily and his wife Judy of Huntley; six sisters and their husbands, Linda and Rick Tilton of Bayard, Neb., Judy and Dave Hamaker of Lusk, Phyllis and Gene Schuldies of Wheatland, Peggy and Virgil Jackson of Chugwater, Carol and Sherman Lenhart of Gering, Neb., and Beverly and Jack Thomspon of Kimball, Neb.; grandson, Hunter Lissman of Cheyenne; granddaughter, Kaitlyn McLeod and grandson, Jacob McLeod, both of Elko, Nev.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father; stepmother, Dorothy Lissman; stepfather, Burris Daily; sister, Janice Lissman; and a brother, Chuck Daily.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Colyer Funeral Home.
