Harry John Fernau, Jr.

A memorial service for Harry John Fernau, Jr. will be held Saturday, March 11 at 2 p. m. at the Douglas Assembly of God Church of Douglas, with Pastor Dan Hickman officiating.

Harry died March 2, 2000, at the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, Wyo.

Harry was born on October 15, 1926, in Lusk to Harry Martin and Pauline V. Fernau. He graduated from Lusk High School. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II and was medically discharged in 1945. He then returned to Lusk where he worked in the oil field until an accident caused the loss of his right arm.

He was married to Sally L. Morehouse on Oct. 18, 1953. He was then Clerk of Niobrara County District Court for several years. He also worked for the State of Wyoming Highway Revenue Department for several years.

He, with the aid of his wife Sally, started and operated grocery stores in Lusk, Glendo and Guersney. Harry loved hunting and fishing and was always happy to be a resident of the state of Wyoming.

Harry was a member of the Order of Eastern Star. Woodbine Chapter No. 18 in Douglas, Order of Eastern Star, Arvada Chapter No. 43 in Guernsey, and a Master Mason in good standing in Harmony Lodge No. 24 in Lusk. He was also a member of the Korein Temple of Rawlins and a member of the American Legion, Weiten Dupes Post No, 4.

Harry is survived by his wife, Sally L. Fernau of Douglas; a daughter Linda Kay Hunt and her husband Greg of Laramie; daughter Robin Rae Anderson and her husband Roger of Douglas; son Harry M. Fernau and his wife Kantima of Laramie; three grandsons and three granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Pauline; sister Louise Niles and brothers Russell Fernau and Richard Fernau.

Requesting memorials to be made to either the Lusk or Douglas Senior Center for their generator fund in lieu of flowers.
