Ed Greene, 62, Dies Thursday
Ed Greene, 62, a Niobrara resident for 35 years died last Thursday after a lingering illness. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from the Peet Chapel.
Harold Brink, pastor of the Open Bible Church, officiated at the services. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery. Mrs. R. C. Bafford and Mrs. Jackie DeGroot sang, "In the Garden" and "Rock of Ages" and were accompanied by Mrs. A. F. DeCastro on the organ.
Casket bearers were: Roscoe Kilmer, Otto Krekeler, Dick David, George Mordock, Clyde Blackmore, Ben Wolfe.
Survivors include his wife; his son Bob; his mother, Mary V. Greene of Ogallala, Nebr.; two brothers, Wilber Greene of Ogallala and Loyal Greene of Wenatchee, Wash.; two sisters, Helen Young of Boulder, Colo., and Cecile Bower of Denver; and two grandsons, Philip and Harold Greene of Lusk.
Out-of-town friends and relatives present were: Mary V. Greene, Ogallala, Dr. and Mrs. H. K. Young, Boulder, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Bower, Denver, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Greene and children, Ogallala, Loyal Greene, Wenatchee, Mrs. Ruth Pearce, Mr. and Mrs. Roger McDaniel, both of Cheyenne, Mrs. Bob Freeman and daughters, Casper, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Whitfield, Torrington, Mr. and Mrs. Dick David, Aurora, Colo., and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Walter, Harrison.
Edgar James Greene was born May 30, 1903 at Ogallala, Nebr., to Mary V. and Bertir A. Greene. He and Florence Scott of Ogallala were married June 27, 1923, and resided in Ogallala until 1931 when they moved to the Cheyenne River area of Niobrara County. In 1931 they moved to Lusk where they have resided since. Mr. Greene worked primarily as an electrician and was especially adept with radio equipment.
