Irene O. Hawley

Irene O. Hawley, beloved wife of Charles W. Hawley, departed this life October 19, 1997 at her home in Lusk, Wyoming. Mrs. Hawley died of cancer.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, October 22, 1997 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bader Funeral Home in Lusk. Cremation has taken place

Irene Enyart was born in Washburn, North Dakota, January 9, 1929 to David W. and Beulah (Heiser) Enyart. She grew up on a farm southwest of Washburn, attending rural school, she attended high school in Washburn, graduating as valedictorian in 1947.

On June 5, 1947, she married Charles W. (Bill) Hawley in Underwood, N.D. They farmed near Underwood, in the Glendive, Montana area, at Baldwin, N.D. and South of Goodrich, N.D. After selling out the farm, they lived in Bismarck, N.D., they moved to Denver, CO and Port St. Lucie, Florida, before retiring to Lusk, WY. She loved working in a carnation greenhouse and hybrid growing shop. She enjoyed working with people in laundries she was employed at in Bismark and Port St. Lucie.

She is survived by her husband, seven children and their families: Charlotte (Mrs. Larry) Martin, Bismarck, N.D.; Charles, Appleton, WI; Ruth (Mrs. Robert) Hecker, Aurora, CO; Mark and Beth, Montrose, CO; Steven and Shani, Sumner, W. VA; Raymond and Roxanne, Devils Lake, N.D.; and Linda Hawley; Rural Mandan, N.D. Sixteen grandchildren, one great granddaughter, one brother, David and Pauli Enyart of Mandan, N.D., one sister, Ione Quenzer, Lead, S.D.

She is predeceased by her parents and her husband's parents, Charles and Caroline Hawley.

Irene was an accomplished needleworker, her family has enjoyed her embroidery and crocheted articles. She was a great "country" cook. Her homemade sweets and breads were enjoyed by all. She enjoyed the volunteer work she did at the Lusk Library and especially enjoyed working with "her kids" at the Lusk school kindergarten where she was "Grandma Hawley" to all.

Memorials to either the Lusk Library or to the Lusk kindergarten class would be appreciated by the family.

A second memorial service will be held at the Goetz Funeral Home in Washburn, N.D., on Saturday, October 25, 1997, at 2:00 p.m.

Bader Funeral Home of Lusk is in charge of local arrangements.
