Opal Elizabeth Green Obituary

Opal Elizabeth Green passed away on April 3, at the Niobrara Life and Health Center. She was born Oct. 31, 1915 in Fromberg, Mont. to Leo and Betha (Hart) Hatheway.

She was married on Oct. 24, 1937, to Clarence C. Green and moved to Pryor, Mont, where she lived for the next 44 years. Our mother enjoyed ranch life, especially gardening, flowers and her huge yard. She cooked many a good meal for her family and any and all that stopped by. She loved her neighbors and had many dear friends. While on the ranch, she had an egg and cream route, weighed beets and attended Billings Business College. Her business savvy, cooking skills, personality and ambition aided her success when she purchased the Pryor Trading Post in 1968.

After retirement, she moved to Billings, Mont. She and her sisters traveled some and, she kept busy with volunteer work.

In 2003, she moved to Lusk to live with her daughters.

Survivors include her son, James C. Green of Roberts, Mont., daughters, Beth Gilbert and Lynn Rising of Lusk, a brother, Raymond Hatheway of Judith Gap, Mont., seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and cousins. Preceding her in death were her Mother and Father, brothers, Donald and John, sisters, May, Lorraine and Louise.

She will be going home to rest in her beloved Montana. Graveside services will be held at Rockvale Cemetery in Rockvale, Mont. on April 15 at 11 a.m. Dinner following at Rockvale. Everyone is welcome.
