Funeral services for Vera Eva Herbers, 82, were Feb. 1, 1997, at the Bader Funeral Home in Lusk with the Rev. Larry Bartlett and the Rev. Frank Bozart officiating. Burial followed in the Lusk Cemetery. Memorials are to Southern Baptist Church or the Lusk Senior Center.

She died Jan. 28, 1997, at the Niobrara County Memorial Hospital in Lusk. She was born Dec. 11, 1914, in Pennsylvania, to Charles and Chattie Hortense.

She was raised in Frederick, Colo., and moved to Lusk when she was a young woman. She worked as a cook on many area ranches, including the Joss Ranch, and she also cooked at the hospital in Lusk for several years.

She married Henry J. Herbers May 4, 1943, in Gering, Neb. He preceded her in death in 1991.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and two brothers.

Survivors include several nieces and nephew and many friends.
