Funeral services for Marge Mathias, an 82-year old Buffalo woman, who passed away suddenly June 25, were held July 1 at the Adams Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Su Debree officiating. Burial was in Willow Grove Cemetery. Donations may be made in Marge's name to the 4-H Scholarship Fund in care of Adams Funeral Home, Buffalo, Wyo.

Marjorie Lee Mathias was born on March 5, 1922 in Greeley, Colo., to Henry and Ida Oster. She was raised in LaSalle and Evans, Colo., and graduated from Greeley High School in Greeley, Colo., in 1940. She was married on May 10, 1942 in Greeley to Delmer Mathias and they made their home on a farm west of Greeley.

In the fall of 1968, they moved to Wyoming to purchase a ranch on Sybille Creek, southwest of Wheatland. They moved to Shell, Wyoming in 1976 where they ranched with their son Dave and in December of 1981 they moved to Columbus, Montana where they lived until retiring from ranching in 1991. It was then that they moved to Buffalo. Delmer passed away in June 2000 and Marge continued living in Buffalo until the time of her death.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church where she served one term as president of the United Methodist Women, helped with dinners and played in the Kitchen Band. Marge was very active in 4-H and enjoyed playing cards with her many friends at the Senior Center and throughout the community. She was known for her great cooking talents and no one ever left her house hungry. Her greatest enjoyments in life were her family, gardening, friends, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, reading, cooking, listening to music and dancing with her husband. Marge loved her dogs and cats and newborn animals of any kind.

She is survived by her son Dave Mathias of Buffalo; daughter Loretta McGuire of Wheatland; a sister and brother-in-law Venice and Carl Schafer of LaSalle, Colo.; seven grandchildren, including Megan Mathias of Sturgis, S.D., Elly and Odessa Mathias of Lusk; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one infant daughter one grandson and one brother.
