Floretta Howard, Former Resident, Dies August 22
Mrs. Floretta Howard, 77, of Carter, S.D., formerly of the Whitman community, died Sunday Aug. 22, at Winner, S.D. Funeral services were held in Winner Tuesday.
She homesteaded in the Whitman community in 1911, and was born in Alden, Iowa, September 3, 1892. She was a sister of the late Frank and Fred Moore of Lance Creek.
Survivors include her widower, Everett of the family home; two sons, Charles Herrick of Rapid City and Ben Herrick of Morgonton, N.C.; a daughter, Mrs. Corlin Hora of Rapid City; a sister, Mrs. Lillian McKinnis of Roundup, Mont.; and a brother, Dewey R. Moore of Boulder, Colo.
