Josie Hoy dies service Monday
Mary Joanna (Josie ) Hoy, former pioneer resident and business operator, died Dec. 17 at the Goshen County Memorial Hospital in Torrington where she had been a patient for three weeks.
She was born Nov. 8, 1892, in Rogers, Ark., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Pollock.
She married James Stanley Hoy, July 25, 1912, in Rogers. They moved to Wyoming in 1916 where they homesteaded south of Lusk in the Rawhide area. In 1946 they moved to Lusk where they operated the Lusk Cold Storage for 5 years before moving to a farm north of Lusk. Mr. and Mrs. Hoy celebrated their golden wedding anniversary, July 25, 1962. They moved to Torrington in 1971.
She was preceded in death by two sons, one daughter, three brothers and three sisters.
Surviving are her widower Stanley of Torrington; two sons, Edward of Jay Em, and Donald of Cheyenne; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Monday at 2:00 p.m. in the Peet Mortuary Chapel with Mark Lohr, pastor, officiating.
Mrs. Minerva Watson, organist, accompanied Mrs. Marilyn Cockreham as she sang "Nearer My God To Thee" and "Beyond The Sunset."
Casket bearers were Calvin Hoy, Billy Rush, Tod Rush, Larry Lamb, Randy Hoy and Lloyd Danall. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery. Memorials are being given to Niobrara County Nursing Home.
