William Harold Hughes
William Harold Hughes, native of the Whitman community and brother of Mrs. Bill (Fern) Schaefer of Harrison, died Oct. 25 at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City. He had become ill at his home at Fulton, Mo., that morning.
He was born Oct. 8, 1917, at Whitman, the son of Cyrus and Lelia Herron Hughes. He married Samantha Louise Crays, Oct. 27, 1940, at Nevada, Mo. They made their home near Fulton, where Mr. Hughes was engaged in farming.
Surviving besides his sister Mrs. Schaefer, are his wife of the home, one son, Jerry Wayne Hughes of Fulton; one daughter, Mrs. Sharon Fountain of 1602 S. Judson, Fulton; another sister, Mrs. Les (Mattie) Middaugh of Casper, Wyo.; four brothers, Bob Hughes of Lingle, Wyo., Sam Hughes of Pocatello, Idaho, Charles Hughes of Casper, Wyo., and Pat Hughes of Clarkston, Wash.; three grandchildren, Jeffrey Fountain and Dana and Darrin Hughes.
