Tom Hunter dies at Casper, Wyo.

Services for Tom B. Hunter, 80, were held June 1 at 9:30 a.m. at Memorial Chapel in Casper.

Rev. Dwayne Axworthy of First Baptist Church and Rev. James Greer of Casper officiated.

Hunter died May 29 at Memorial Hospital in Casper after a brief illness.

Born Aug. 31, 1896, at Harrison, he married Eva Hutchinson here in 1927. Hunter, who served in the Army during World War II, owned and operated a dairy farm near Douglas, Wyo., for some years before he moved to Casper in 1948. In Casper he worked as an oil pumper for Union Oil until he retired in 1959, and went to work as a gardener at Poison Spider School until 1971.

In Casper, Hunter was a member of the First Baptist Church. In Douglas, he was a past commander of the V.F.W. and a member of the I.O.O.F. He also belonged to the Retired Teachers Association, and the Senior Citizens Group.

Survivors include his wife; two daughter, Mrs. Reg (Valerie) Christman of Casper and Mrs. Delores Meek of Norfolk, Neb.; one sister, Myrtle Points of Folsom, Calif.; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and five sisters.

Cremation followed the services, with private interment of remains at a later date.
