Former Resident Killed in Car Wreck
Fred Jasper of Denver, former Niobrara County resident, was killed instantly in a one-car accident near Nemo, So. Dak., September 6. His sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Kaiser of Oakland, Calif. was driving and lost control of the car on a curve at the crest of a hill. Mrs. Kaiser is hospitalized with a brain concussion, broken wrist and multiple cuts and bruises.
Funeral services were held at Bullock Colonial Chapel in Denver September 11.
Mrs. Jasper died August 23 from a lingering illness. Funeral services for her were held August 28, or just two weeks before those of Mr. Jasper.
Mr. Jasper filed on a homestead seven and a half miles east of Van Tassell, near the Nebraska line, in 1905. In November, 1917, he married Mrs. Mary Fike, who had a homestead in the Lance Creek area. Mr. Jasper, a carpenter by trade was very active in community affairs in Lance Creek, and also served on the school board. Mrs. Jasper lost both an arm and a leg in a train accident in her early life. Her only child, Eunice May, died in 1924. They moved to Denver when Mr. Jasper retired.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Canfield and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Schnorenberg, Sr. of Lusk attended services for Mrs. Jasper and also for Mr. Jasper.
