Nellie Johns dies Tuesday
Mrs. Nellie Johns, 90, of Harrison who has been residing in the Niobrara Nursing Home, died Tuesday night.
Funeral will be conducted this Saturday, May 19, at 2:00 p.m. at the Methodist Church in Harrison.
Mrs. Johns was the mother of Mrs. Ruth Thomas of Lusk.

Long-time resident Nellie Johns dies
Memorial service was held at the Memorial Methodist Church for long-time Harrison resident Nellie L. Johns May 19. She died May 16 at the Niobrara County Nursing Home in Lusk.
The Reverends Ann and Wayne Tieszen officiated at the service. Organist was Ruth Hall. Mrs.Tieszen accompanied the Harrison Community Chorus, They sang "Sweet Hour of Prayer," "Have Thine Own Way Lord" and "Shall We Gather at the River."
Active bearers were Bob Geiser, Kenneth Branum, Clarence Schnurr, Emery Zimmerman, Milford Brewster and Kenneth Taylor. Burial was at the Harrison Cemetery. Memorials have been established to the Harrison Methodist Church.
Nellie Johns was born May 4, 1889, in Scarborough, Ontario, Canada, the third daughter of Peter and Elizabeth Badgerow. She came to the United States with her family when she was 18 months old and lived in Blair,Nebraska.
She was married Sept. 8, 1908 to J. Anson Johns at the family home near Blair. They established a farm near Hemingford in 1918 and moved to Harrison in 1932.
Music was very much a part of her life. in earlier years she was often the pianist for church and community activities. Just a few days before her death she played the piano for fellow residents at the nursing home. She was a member of the Memorial United Methodist Church for over 47 years. She is survived by two sons, Milford I. Johns, Richland, Wash., and Harold D. Johns, Bassett, Nebr.; four daughters, Mrs. Harold Hood, Gordon, Nebr.; Mrs. Leslie Roberts, Page, Ariz.; Mrs. Samuel M. Thomas, Lusk; Mrs. John Lambert, Riverside, Calif.; two sisters, Della Gollehon, Fremont, Nebr.; Margaret Deihl, Baltimore, Md.; 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; two sisters, a brother and one grandson.
