Myrtle Alta Perry Jump

Funeral services for Myrtle Alta Perry Jump, 94, will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday July 24, 2003, at the Gorman Funeral Home-Converse Chapel in Douglas, with Pastor Tom Strock of the First Baptist Church of Lusk officiating.

Myrtle Perry Jump died July 20, 2003, at Michael Manor in Douglas surrounded by her children.

She was born June 19, 1909 at Star, Idaho, the daughter of Monte and Frankie (White) Morgan; she had one brother, Halliard (Halley) Morgan.

Her parents homesteaded in Star, Idaho. She was raised and educated in Star and Nampa, Idaho.

She married Henry Perry on July 24, 1926, at Boise, Idaho, to this union children were born, Flora, Eugene, Fern and Faye. Myrtle and Henry lived on various ranches in the Boise area while their children grew.

In November 1950, they moved to Lusk, where they purchased the Menes Cafe. They later purchased the Lusk Cafe, which they operated until Henry's death in July 1962.

Myrtle then went to work at the Spencer Hospital for Doctor Walter Reckling as a nurse, a career she followed until she retired. She worked at the Casper Hospital and a hospital in Moline, Ill. In 1965 she married James W. Jump and they moved to Moline. She retired in 1977, and they moved to Concord, California, to be near her daughter, Faye.

When her health started to fail, she returned to Wyoming, first residing in Casper at the Garden Square Assisted Living, where her granddaughter Sharon was administrator. In July 2002, she needed more care and moved to Michael Manor in Douglas to be near her daughter Flora and son Eugene.

Her grandchildren were the love of her life, and the grandchildren spent many days visiting her. She loved family reunions, visiting friends and family, cooking great dinners, and taking drives in the country.

She is survived by her four children, Flora Holm of Douglas, Eugene H. Perry and his wife, Evelyn of Lusk, Fern Franssen of Nampa, and Faye Perry of Martinez, Calif. and Douglas; nine grandchildren, Jane Ann Huff of Lander, Wyo. , Leslie Huff of Douglas, Barbara Rapp of Lusk, Michael Perry and his wife Laurie of Houston, Texas, Gary Perry of Casper, Eugene Perry II and his wife Judy of Tacoma, Wash., Sharon Skiver of Thermopolis, Wyo., Stephen Franssen and his wife Judy who are world travelers, and Gerald Franssen and his wife Marrissa of Boise; nine great-grandchildren, Mindy Tennison, Amy Nixon, Joe Franssen, Bailey Rapp, Brandon Rapp, Ryan Rapp, Daphne Rohlf, Angela Huff and Rachelle Perry; and two great-great-grandchildren, Julie Paige Nixon and Clayton Franssen.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, and her two husbands.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Faye M. Perry, Eugene Perry II, Gary Perry, Michael Perry, Leslie Huff, Stephen Franssen and Gerald Franssen.

A memorial to Michael Manor, 1108 Ninth Street, Douglas, Wy. 82633 would be appreciated by the family.

Gorman Funeral Home-Converse Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
