Harry E. Kennedy

Graveside services were held for Harry E. Kennedy, 85, June 30 at the Lusk Cemetery with Rev. Frank Blish officiating.

Kennedy died June 27 at Niobrara County Nursing Home. Born July 3, 1898 at Big Muddy, Wyo., he was the son of Patrick and Flora Kennedy.

On May 11, 1932, he married Gabrielle Corsen at Kimball, Neb. In his early years, Kennedy was a cowboy and bronc rider. He broke horses for the U.S. Army during World War I.

From 1933-1937, he homesteaded on the Upper Boxelder Road and then moved to Glenrock where he worked on ranches, including the CY Ranch and the VR Ranch. He had also worked in the oil fields throughout Wyoming and Colorado. In 1952, the family moved to California where he was employed by Douglas Aircraft until his retirement in 1962. He then moved to Lusk where he spent his retirement years.

Survivors include his widow, Gabrielle of Lusk, one son, Gale E. Kennedy of Casper; one daughter, Grace E. Lamb of Raleigh, Miss.; and half-sister Louise Alley of Douglas; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
