Herbert M. Klindt

Graveside services for Herbert M. Klindt, 84, of Lusk were Sept. 23, 1996, in the Lusk Cemetery with the Rev. Don Laue officiating. Cremation has taken place. Memorials are to the Lusk Volunteer Fire Department.

He died at his home in Lusk Monday, Sept. 16, 1996. He was born March 6, 1912, in Big Springs, Neb., to William and Mary Ann (Brandt) Klindt. He grew up in and received his education in Big Springs and graduated from high school there in 1928. He then graduated from Capital College of Pharmacy in Denver, Colo., in 1939.

He married Nola Tatum Feb. 1, 1933, at St. Francis, Kansas. She died in July of 1987. The couple moved to Lusk in 1941, where Herb was employed at Rogers Drug until 1945.

They moved to Bozeman, Mont., where he was employed at Baxter Hotel Pharmacy until December of 1946.

They returned to Lusk in January of 1947, where he entered into partnership with Otto Krekeler until his retirement on May 31, 1983.

He was a long-time member and past master of Lusk Harmony Lodge #24.

He belonged to Elks Lodge #1791 for many years. He was a member of the Lusk Volunteer Fire Department for most of the years he resided in Lusk and was its secretary/treasurer for more than 20 years.

He was a past president of the chamber of commerce. He also belonged to the Niobrara County Club and the Sportsman's Club.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Edgar; and one sister Marguerite.

Survivors include daughters and son-in-law Sondra Henritze of Grand Junction, Colo., and Judy and Gary Smith of Wheatland; son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Mary Klindt of Cheyenne; brother Henry of Big Timber, Mont., sister Lois Nelson of Chappel, Neb; eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Bader Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
