Services for Albert Knudsen Held Saturday

Funeral services for Albert R. Knudsen, 76, of Manville were conducted from the Peet Chapel in Lusk on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. He died November 11 at the Niobrara County Memorial Hospital. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery with graveside military honors by the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

The Rev. Richard Korns of the Manville Community Alliance Church officiated. Mrs. J. P. Watson, organist, accompanied Mrs. Richard Korns, Mrs. Jack Hammond, Robert Reichert and Dale M. Bardo as they sang "In The Garden" and "Some Bright Morning."

Casket bearers were Alvin Alexander, Louis Bowen, Tom Bower, Fred Vanosdall, Paul Heany and Fred Sheaman.

Albert Rosan Knudsen, son of Pete and Karen Knudsen, was born March 17, 1893 in Maribo, Denmark. He spent the early years of his life in Denmark where he attended schools and received training in the nursery business. In 1911, when he was 18, he came to the United States and settled at Marquette, Neb. On May 28, 1918, he enlisted in the army at Aurora, Neb. While in the army he served for five months in France and returned to the States where he received his discharge at Camp Funston, Kan. April 3, 1919.

January 1, 1927 he married Hazel Elaine McCullough at Julesburg, Colo. For the next five years they operated a wheat farm and cafe at Oshkosh, Neb. After selling the cafe they moved to a ranch 2 miles north of Lost Springs, Wyo. In 1936 they moved to Manville where Mr. Knudsen was engaged in trucking and the nursery business.

He was a member of the Manville Alliance Church, 50-year member of the American Legion and a member of V.F.W.

His parents, four brothers and three sisters died previously.

Survivors include his widow, Hazel, one daughter, Nadine Johnson of Rialto, Calif.; two grandchildren, Cheri and Laurie Johnson; and one brother, Pete of Long Beach, Calif.
