Jerry Koleno Dies at Home Here Saturday

Jerry L. Koleno, 55, Lusk businessman, died of a heart attack at his home Saturday morning. Funeral services were held from the Peet Chapel in Lusk Tuesday afternoon.

Mr. Koleno was working on some plumbing with John Jassman. Mr. Jassman left to come downtown and get some additional tools. When he returned he found Mr. Koleno dead. Mrs. Koleno was at the Sunshine Cleaners at the time. She and Mr. Koleno have operated the business since come to Lusk in April 1933.

The Rev. Frank Bozart, minister of the Lusk Open Bible Church, officiated at the services with Mrs. J. P. Watson at the organ. L. E. Johnsonbaugh, James Willson, Denis Culver and Gerald Bardo sang. Casket bearers were: Charles Christian, Lavern James, Beryl Fullerton, Glen Willson, Mike Cork and Menno Kaan. Burial was in the Lusk cemetery.

Masonic rites with C. E. Marvin as Worshipful Master were held in the Chapel. Military honors by the American Legion and National Guard were accorded at the graveside.

Jerry Louis Koleno was born in Creighton, Neb., March 3, 1907; his father died four days later. His mother died April 16, 1960 and a brother, Harry died September 19, 1959.

He and Ruth Busskohl of Bloomfield, Neb., were married April 18, 1933, and came to Lusk the same month.

Mr. Koleno served as a combat engineer in Europe during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion and Harmony Masonic Lodge.

Surviving are his wife, Ruth; sister, Laura Be Koleno; two nieces, Laura Lee of Fremont, Neb., JoAnn Koleno of California.
