Dale Robert Lange

Dale Robert Lange, 76, died in Gillette, Feb. 1, 2005 of complications due to Alzheimer's.

Memorial services were held in Lusk, at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church on Friday, Feb. 4 at 2 p.m.

He was born Jan.9, 1929 to Alvina (Ludolph) and Henry Lange in Pipestone, Minn. He attended school there. He was the youngest of thirteen children. Dale moved to New Earth, Minn. in 1946.

He enlisted in the Army Air Borne in January 1951. He made 57 jumps and trained the new troops for the rest of the three years he served.

Dale married Norma Frank in Blue Earth, Minn. on Aug. 19, 1951. Dale was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith in 1951. He had been a trustee for many years. Five children were born to this union. They lived in Blue Earth until 1965. At that time he moved his family to Lusk.

He bought the Rawhide Motel and operated it for 26 years. Dale also worked outside the motel. He was a good mechanic and welder. He liked being creative and cut many wood pieces out for his wife to paint. He took great pride in the completion of his remodeled retirement home. In September 2003, he moved to Gillette and lived at the Pioneer Manor Alzheimer's wing.

He is survived by three daughters and one son. They are Sandy Anderson of Gillette, Wyo.; Jude Redfield of Lusk; Nancy Herrin of Big Springs, Tex.; and Bob Lange of Midland, Tex. He has eleven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter, Amelia, born Jan. 31, 2005. His grandchildren are: Andy, Josh, Anna, Heidi, Haley, Colter, Taylor, Scott, Stephie, Zach and Zane. He is also survived by his sisters; Laura, of Sioux Falls, S.D.; Edna of Sturgeon Bay, Wis.; Florence of Merlin, Ore.; Dorothy of Orange, Calif.; Clarence of Fla.; Donald of Brainerd, Minn.; and also many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma; daughter, Joanie; parents, brothers: Victor, Clifford, and Elmer, and sisters Violet and Adeline.

The family requests memorials be sent to St. Paul's Lutheran Church or the Senior Center at Lusk.
