Jennie J. Lenz

Jennie J. Lenz of Lusk passed away in the fire that consumed her ranch home on Sunday, May 1, 2005. Her life will be honored by family and friends at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Lusk, at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 6, with interment following at the Lusk Cemetery. Her family invites anyone who so wishes to wear lavender, Jennie's favorite color.

Jennie was born Jane Josephine Stasiewicz, the third child of John and Josephine Stasiewicz, on June 2, 1930, in Worcester, Mass. It was here as a young woman, that she met Richard H. Lenz of Lusk, who was in the U.S. Army and stationed nearby. They wed in Worcester on May 23, 1953, and then moved to the Lenz ranch north of Lusk, where they spent the remainder of their lives, and where they raised their three daughters, and watched their grandchildren grow.

Jennie worked at the Lusk State Bank, and later as a legal secretary of Judge James E. Barrett. She was then elected Clerk of District Court of Niobrara County, a position she held for approximately 20 years. In her retirement, Jennie's hands were always busy crafting or quilting. She was also a talented painter and she enjoyed working in her yard and flower beds. She loved playing bridge with several groups in Lusk and Niobrara County.

Jennie was preceded in death by Richard in 1988. She was also predeceased by her parents, and by Richard's siblings, Ralph Lingwood and Alma Bostrom (and husband Oscar).

She is survived by her brothers, John Stasiewicz of Salisbury, Md. and Henry Stacy of Worcester, Mass. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Betty Lingwood of Oviedo, Fla. and Fern (and Don) Taylor of Aztec, N.M. and by brothers-in-law Hugo (and Martha) Lenz of Wheatland, and Gene (and Joan) Lenz of Lusk and by many nieces and nephews. She is also missed by her three loving daughters and their families; Valerie and Ron Schreibeis of Laramie, and their children Sabrina, Veronica, Ryan and Ariela; Vivian and Mark Fullerton of Rapid City, S.D. and children Nicholas, Christopher and Cameron; and Jennifer and Randy Wright of Fountain Hills, Ariz. and children Alexandra and Lance.

Jennie was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, and the family requests that any memorials be made to such.

Cicmanec-Pier Funeral Home in Lusk is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
