Mrs. Floyd McLain Dies in Nebraska Tuesday Morning

Mrs. Floyd (Nell) McLain, 83, died at the Hay Springs, Neb., Nursing Home early Tuesday morning following a lingering illness. Funeral services will be held Friday, Aug. 14, at the Peet Mortuary in Lusk at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Lusk Cemetery.

Mrs. McLain was born October 28, 1886, at Staten Island, N.Y.

Survivors include her widower Floyd of Lusk; three daughters, Mrs. Jean Sheiper, Staten Island, N.Y.; Mrs. Norma Ward and Mrs. Patty Blackmore, both of Los Angeles, Calif.; and nine grandchildren.

Funeral Services Held for Mrs. Floyd McLain, 83, Friday

Funeral services were held for Mrs. Floyd (Nell Gordon) McLain, 83, Friday, Aug. 14, from the Peet Chapel in Lusk at 2:00 p.m. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery. Mrs. McLain died early Tuesday morning, Aug. 11, at the Hay Springs Nursing Home, following a lingering illness.

The Rev. Thomas Cleary of Torrington officiated the service. Mrs. A. B. DeCastro, organist, accompanied Nancy Nagel, soloist, as she sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Rock of Ages."

Casket bearers were Paul Morgan, Charlie Canfield, Ted Jones, Clyde Blackmore, Dave Shepard and Bud Hoblit.

Honorary bearers were C. E. Marvin, Menno Kaan, Rulo Roberts, Stanley Hoy, Carl Bruch, Ab DeCastro, Happy Tyrrel, John Lorenzen, Floyd Simon and Walter Schnorenberg Jr.

She was born October 28, 1886, in Staten Island, N.Y., one of four daughters to Hugh and Julia Gordon. Her three sisters died previously.

She met her husband Floyd in New York during World War I. They were married June 28, 1919, in Omaha, Neb., and came to Wyoming where they homesteaded south of Lusk and lived until her recent illness. She had been a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and was always a champion for a just cause.

Survivors include her widower, Floyd; three daughters, Mrs. Jean Sheiper, Staten Island, N.Y.; Mrs. Norma Ward and Mrs. Patty Blackmore, both of Los Angeles, Calif.; and nine grandchildren.
