Former Mule Creek Woman Takes Life in Denver Monday

Friends here were sadly grieved this week when news of the suicide of Mrs. Edward P. McGovern, who took her life with a pistol at the family home in Denver Monday. The McGoverns were well known to many local residents, Mr. McGovern having been employed at the Mule Creek oil field as production foreman for the Argo Oil Company for several years.

Following the cessation of activities in this section, the company transferred Mr. McGovern to Denver. At the time of the tragedy, however, he was employed by the Kuner Pickle company.

Friends here remember the deceased as a healthy, robust and cheerful woman, and her act therefore comes as a severe shock. Mrs. McGovern had sent her husband to the grocery store, and during his absence fired the fatal shot. When he returned, he saw the lifeless body and immediately summoned the police. It is understood that the deceased had been in poor health for the past two or three years, and this is given as the cause of her self-destruction.
