Frank J. Maguire

Funeral services for Frank J. Maguire, 64, were held Friday, Nov. 2, 1990 at 2 p.m. at the Converse County Chapel in Douglas with Rev. Jon Laughlin of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Interment was in the Douglas Park Cemetery. Maguire died Monday, Oct. 29, 1990, at his home on Esterbrook Road in Douglas after a four-year battle with cancer.

He was born July 25, 1926, in Salt Creek, Wyo., the son of Roy and Fern (Hobson) Maguire. He was reared and educated in the area of Lusk, and had lived in Douglas since 1956.

On May 14, 1966, he and Lucille Horton were married in Douglas and to this union three children were born. He worked as a ranch hand and as a pumper for 11 years for H&M Oil Producers. His hobby was his work and he was always quick to offer help to stranded drivers and hitchhikers. He was often known only for his hard hat with a horsehead painted on it. The last four years he spent many hours at the We Care Child Care as a grandfather figure. He was a Mason and attended the Congregational Church.

He is survived by his wife Lucille of Douglas; three children, Georgianna Maguire, Glenn Maguire, and Christina Maguire, all of the family home; five sisters, Ann Ellsworth of Casper; Alice Alison and Eunice Tanner, both of Independence, Ore,; Mary McFarlin of Commerce City, Colo.; Hazel Smith of Brighton, Colo.; one brother, Carl Maguire of Fort Lupton, Colo.; one sister-in-law, Alva Horton; and two special grandchildren, Keith and Kyle Rush; also many nieces and nephews and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother in May 1966 and his father in May 1973. Serving as pallbearers were Brock Hanson, Danny Hanson, John Hanson, Larry Holkan, Louie Martinez, and Jim Maxwell.

Honorary pallbearers were Dale Gunn, Rut Bonsell, Corky Berens, Bruce Morrison, Aaron Werks, Al McChestney, Paul Newgard, Henry Krejci, Jeff Winton, Dan Hanson, Elwyn Richendifer, and all friends and relatives far and near.

Memorials to the family to help defray enormous medical expenses would be appreciated.

The Converse Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
