Janet Marian Manring

Memorial service for Mrs. Darryl T. Manring, 1007 Sheridan Road, Normal, Ill., was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, at St. Matthews Episcopal Church in Bloomington. The Revs. Richard Bennett of St. Matthews and Edw. A. Downs of Christ the King Episcopal Church, Normal, officiated.

Mrs. Manring, the former Janet Marian Husted, died at Mennonite Hospital, September 10. She was born at St. Joseph, Mo., on February 25, 1922, to Ward W. and Marian Mowry Husted. Most of her early life was spent in Laramie. She was graduated from Laramie High School in 1938. There followed two years at the University of Wyoming in Laramie, where she was affiliated with Alpha Chi Omega sorority. Some time later she took additional studies at Nebraska State College at Peru, where she belonged to Kappa Delta Pi, educational honorary, and American Association of University Women.

During the war years she lived in East Orange, New Jersey; Anchorage, Alaska; and Arlington, Virginia. For some time late in World War II she was a hostess in the General's Dining Room at the Pentagon in Washington.

She was married to Darryl T. Manring in St. Matthews Cathedral in Laramie on December 21, 1947. The Manrings moved to Normal in 1962. For most of the time since then Mrs. Manring has been employed as a cost accountant at the Illinois State University Union. Mr. Manring is a member of the music faculty at I.S.U.

Mrs. Manring was a 52-year member of Albany County Unit 14, The American Legion Auxiliary in Laramie, and a 25-year member of the Society of Mayflower Descendants in the State of Wyoming. All of the Manrings are members of St. Matthews Episcopal Church in Bloomington and all were members of the church choir.

In addition to her husband and her father, Mrs. Manring is survived by two daughters - Mrs.Reinhard Borchers, the former Lesley Gayle Manring, of Augsburg, West Germany, and Darilyn Dee Manring, of New Haven, Conn., and a sister, Jean Louise Hager, of Cahokia, Ill.

Memorials may be made to St. Matthews Episcopal Church in Bloomington or to the Building Fund of Christ the King Episcopal Church in Normal.
