Orval Manring dies at 82

Orval M. Manring, 82, Niobrara pioneer resident, died Saturday morning, Feb. 5, at the Veteran's Hospital in Cheyenne.

He was born September 28, 1894, at Atkinson, Neb., a son of Oakley and Inez Adams Manring and moved with his parents at an early age to McFall, Mo., where he grew to manhood. He was married to Edna L. Francis on September 30, 1918, at St. Joseph, Mo. He left immediately for the service during World War I where he served honorably in the Army at Vancouver, Wash.

The Manrings moved to Lusk in 1924 and Manring became a charter member of the Wieten-Dupes Post of the American Legion, where he held membership at the time of his death.

He is survived by his widow; one son, Darryl T. Manring of Normal, Ill., and two granddaughters, Lesley Gayle Manring of Heidelberg, Germany and Darilyn Dee Manring of New Haven, Conn., as well as several nieces and nephews.

His parents and two brothers preceded him in death.

Funeral service was being held at 2:00 p.m. this Wednesday in the Peet Chapel, with Rev. Clyde Thompson, Baptist minister from Douglas officiating. Mrs. Edna DeCastro organist was accompanying Mark Lohr as he was singing "Life Is Like A Mountain Railway" and "When The Roll Is Called Up Yonder."

Casket bearers were to be Otto Krekeler, Art Verik, Johnnie Thon, Clyde Blackmore, Joe Andrews and Ray Taylor.

Honorary bearers were to be Art Mahnke, John Backhaus, C.E. Marvin, L.T. Bonner, Otto Klemke, and Emerson Bonner.

Burial was to be in the Lusk Cemetery with military services by Wieten Dupes Post #4 American Legion.
