Howard W. Foster

A funeral service for Howard W. Foster, 51, of Torrington, who died at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Cheyenne on October 13, 1977 following a short illness, will be held at Bethel Baptist Church in Torrington on Monday, October 17, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Eugene West officiating. Interment will be in Valley View Cemetery.

A memorial has been established to the Heart fund.

He was born March 25, 1926 at Hemmingford, Nebraska the son of Earl and Zylpha (Kinner) Foster, grew up and went to school at Hemmingford and Mitchell before serving in the United States Navy during World War II.

On October 12, 1948 he married Maxine Hess. The couple lived in Sioux County, Nebraska, Lusk, Wyoming and for the past twelve years they have lived in Torrington. Howard and Maxine have owned and operated The One Stop Furniture Shop in Torrington for the past eight years

He has been active in church work and youth groups. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Torrington.

Survivors include his wife Maxine of Torrington, a son Bryan Foster of Yoder, Wyoming, two daughters, Mrs. Veda Bafford of Torrington and Mrs. Claudia Teeters of Sterling, Colorado, four sisters, Mrs. Ida Lyman and Adeline Foster both of Scottsbluff, Mrs. Delma Wilkie of Marsland, Nebraska and Mrs. Hester Schmidt of Irving, Texas, two brothers, Abe Foster of Wheatland, Wyoming and Bill Foster of Longmont, Colorado, and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.

Colyer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
