Ronald Orman Fowler

Ronald Orman Fowler, 58, died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 1987 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Hot Springs, SD.

Funeral services were Saturday, Feb. 28 at Peet Mortuary in Lusk with Rev. Mark Lohr officiating. Burial was at the Lusk Cemetery with an Elks burial service performed by Vern Modine, Chuck Smith, Doug Sides and Robert Miller and a Military Honor Guard composed of Richard Schnorenberg, Dave Crofutt and Duane Predmore.

He was born Nov. 26, 1928 in Aurora, NE., the son of Ralph Melvin and Laverda Georgia (Newhouser) Fowler. He attended school in Marquette, NE.

He joined the U. S. Army in 1953 and served until 1955 during the Korean Conflict. He farmed for a few years near Marquette and then worked for the Swift Packing Plant for 10 years. From 1963-66 he worked on road construction in and around Lusk and from 1966-73 he lived in Aurora, NE.

He moved to Lusk in 1973 and worked for the Town of Lusk for nine years. He then worked for the Wyoming Industrial Laundry for five years before becoming disabled June 13, 1986.

His favorite hobbies were fishing and camping. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, the Benevolent Patriotic Order of Elks, the Loyal Order of the Moose and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He married his wife, Pat Stairs, on Dec. 24, 1963 at Blue Hill, NE.

Survivors include his wife of Lusk, his mother, Mrs. Laverda Keyes of York, NE, one brother, Robert of Omaha, NE.; one sister, Mrs. Larey (Marlene) Crawford of Phillips,NE.; four daughters, Terry Lee Howe of Lincoln, NE, Mrs. Melvin (Charlotte) Preslicka of York, NE, Rhonda Courtright of Lusk and Dixie Blaney of Lusk; four sons, Rick Larsen of Grand Island NE, Mike Fowler of York, Eddie Fowler of Fort Lee, VA, and William Fowler of York; 15 grandchildren and numerous relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father and an infant grandson.

Memorials to the American Legion Auxiliary Emergency Fund in care of Shirley Herdt, 320 Linda Vista, Torrington, WY, will be appreciated by the family.
