Floyd Moore, 79, Dies Thursday

Floyd Moore, 79, died last Thursday enroute to Lusk to obtain medical attention for a heart condition.

Funeral services were held at the Peet Chapel Sunday with the Rev. Frank Bozart of the Open Bible Church officiating.

Mrs. Emerson Bonner and Mrs. G. L. Pfeifer sang "How Great thou Art" and "Ivory Palaces" accompanied by Mrs. J. P. Watson.

Pallbearers were: Ed Hales, Mike Chard, Clem Mosier, Earl Townsend, John Amend and Fay Swope.

Honorary pallbearers were: Luther Penfield, Sr., Walter Swope, E. R. Whitman, Joe Traphagan, Roscoe Ross and Leroy Johnson.

Floyd John Moore was born January 24, 1885 in Glenelder, Kans. the son of Robert L. and Corlin Moore. His childhood and early youth were spent in Iowa. After his 21st birthday Mr. Moore came west to homestead near Ardmore, So. Dak. He later settled in Sioux County Neb.

In 1926 he went into partnership with his brother Frank at Whitman, Wyo. Desiring to expand their business they sold their Whitman holdings in 1933 and purchased a ranch in the Lance Creek area where they lived out the remainder of their days. After the death of his brother Frank in 1958, Mr. Moore made his home with a nephew, Marshall Holifield, whom he had raised from boyhood.

He is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Amy Peterson of Long Beach, Calif., Mrs. Lillian McKinis of Roundup, Mont., and Mrs. Floretta Howard of Carter, So. Dak.; one brother, Dewey of Garland, Tex; his nephew and family, Mr. and Mrs. Holifield, Holly and Gill of Lance Creek. He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
