Clinton Francis Dies Thursday; Services Monday

Clinton Ray Francis, 80, of the Cheyenne River community, died Thursday evening in the Lutheran hospital in Hot Springs. He had been in failing health for the past two years. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from Peet Chapel with Rev. David Becknell officiating. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery.

Mrs. A. F. DeCastro and Mrs. Emerson Bonner sang "Rock of Ages" and "In the Garden." Mrs. J. P. Watson was organist.

Pallbearers were Pat Marchant, John Miller, Lawrence Gibbs, Stan Brewster, Glen Hansen, and Chris Christensen.

Clinton Ray Francis, son of Daniel and Levina Banton Francis was born near Bethany, Mo., January 30, 1878. His younger years were spent in that state where he attended school.

He married Myrtle Rhay at Bethany, Mo. in March 1902. They had three children, Lowell of East Chicago, Ind., Arthur Eugene of the Cheyenne River community and one daughter who died in childhood.

The family located in northern Niobrara County in June 1930.

Survivors include his wife, two sons, one sister, three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
