Elizabeth "Betty" Mae Carmichael Moxley

A memorial service for Elizabeth "Betty" Mae Carmichael Moxley, 88, was held July 23, 2003, at the Wheatland Bible Church, with Pastor Denzil G. Mauk officiating. Inurnment was in the Wheatland Cemetery.

Betty Moxley died July 19, 2003, at Platte County Memorial Hospital in Wheatland.

She was born March 3, 1915, in Moore, Mont. the daughter of Roy and Esther (Nelson) Terry. The family moved to Wyoming early in her childhood and homesteaded in the Laramie Peak area.

As a young woman she married James Carmichael: James died in 1969.

Betty married Denzel Moxley in September 1972, and they lived on a wheat farm near Chugwater for 16 years before retiring in Wheatland. Denzel died in July 1996.

Betty resided in the Wheatland area for many years and was well-known for her charitable works in the community. During the last several years of her life, she enjoyed baking bread and rolls and sharing them with friends. Her sense of humor and compassion for others endeared her to all who knew her.

She is survived by her daughter, Betty Jean and her husband Bud Reed of Lance Creek: step-sons, Robert Moxley and his wife Marlene, and W. J. Moxley and his wife Vicki, all of Cheyenne: four step-granddaughters; two step-grandsons; and a great grandchild.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents and her two husbands.

Memorials to Hospice of Platte County, P.O. Box 1025, Wheatland, WY, 82201, or a charity of the donor's choice, would be appreciated by the family.

Gorman Funeral Homes-Platte Chapel of Wheatland was in charge of arrangements.
