Mrs. Earl Nation Was 1909 Homesteader in Sioux County

Iva Luella Nation, 78, who died in the Chadron hospital last week, homesteaded with her husband, Earl Daniel Nation, in Sioux County in 1909 and ranched here 45 years.

Funeral services were held April 17 at the Erlewine and Hartman Funeral Home in Chadron and burial was in the Crawford Cemetery.

Mrs. Nation was born October 12, 1889 at Belmont. She married Earl Nation at Marsland on October 11, 1908. He died July 9, 1964. They lived for 12 years in Crawford where he retired. The past three years she has lived in Chadron.

Survivors include four sons, Melvin L. of Everett, Wash., Clark W. of Miles City, Mont., Melvin E. of Harrison; four daughters, Mrs. John (Eva) Gray and Mrs. Jack (Frances) Roberts, both of Chadron, Mrs. Dewayne (Anita) Robison of Tulsa, Okla., and Mrs. Raymond (Mildred) Widel of Blackwater, Mo., 27 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and a brother Paul E. Hamaker of Belmont; and sister, Berthena Parker of Canon City, Colo.
