Former Lusk Pastor Dies
Funeral services for Father Cornelius O'Connor, formerly pastor in Lusk, were held August 8. He died in Denver August 3.
Vigil Scripture Service was August 7 and the Mass of Resurrection was August 8 at Holy Trinity Church in Cheyenne. Burial will be in Ireland.
O'Connor was pastor here when the new church was being built and he worked right along with the workers. He was in Lusk about eight years.
During his 23 years in Wyoming, he served as assistant pastor at Rock Springs, Newcastle and Rawlins and was pastor of Gillette, Buffalo and Lusk.
Father O'Connor, 46, had been ill for the past few months with cancer and phlebitis. He was born August 30, 1930 in Ireland. He was assigned to the Cheyenne Diocese following his ordination in 1954.
Laura Dixon, Jane Geiser, Anna Wasserburger and Tom Wasserburger went to Cheyenne Monday to attend the Mass of Christian Burial for Rev. Cornelius O'Connor.
