Irene M. Olafson

The Vigil Service for Irene M. Olafson, 69, was held at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, 1992, in the Bader-Peet Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Patrick Shea officiating. The funeral liturgy was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, in St. Leo's Catholic Church. Burial followed in the Lusk Cemetery.

Olafson died Tuesday, Jan. 21, at the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper. She was born April 14, 1922, at Hartington, Neb., the daughter of Joseph and Clara Haberer. She was raised by Clifford and Matilda Fox in Wayne, Neb., and later moved to Walthill, Neb., where she graduated from high school.

She married Ray H. Olafson on Feb. 20, 1941, at Omaha, Neb. To this union three children were born; Carol, Robert and Pamela. The family moved to Lusk in 1948.

She was an active member of the B.P.O.E. Does Lusk Chapter. Also she was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church in Lusk. She loved playing cards, crocheting and loved being with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, five sisters, seven brothers, and a daughter, Carol.

Survivors include one son, Robert G. Olafson of Sheridan, Wyo.; one daughter, Pamela Corkill of Casper; one sister, Betty McCollum of Mason City, Iowa; four grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

For those who wish, memorials to the Elk's Scholarship fund will be appreciated by the family.

Bader-Peet Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
