Glen C. Percy

Services for Glen C. Percy, age 80, were held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 8, at the Peet Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Allen Kallenbach officiating. Burial followed in the Lusk Cemetery.

Percy died Tuesday, March 5, 1991, at the Ponderosa Villa Nursing Home in Crawford, Neb. He was born Oct. 31, 1910, at Norfolk, Neb., the son of William and Mary Percy. He attended school in Norfolk and graduated from Parsons College, Fairfield, Iowa, with a BA in economics and business administration. He served in the Army Air Corps from 1943 to 1945.

Percy joined the Department of Agriculture in 1956 as a warehouse examiner and held that position for about one and a half years. For the next three and a half years he was a grain merchandiser for the ASCS. He began his grain career with Hagemeister Grain Co., at Crawford, Neb., where for seven years he was involved in all phases of merchandising and warehousing. Among Percy's more notable accomplishments was being directly involved in the original grain transaction with Russia. He remained with the ASCS until a severe heart attack forced his retirement.

He loved golfing and much of his free time was spent at the Niobrara County Country Club where he had served on the board of directors. He was also a member of the Congregational Church in Lusk and the American Legion.

He married Edna F. Rust on Dec. 29, 1976, in Lusk.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Ruth, and two brothers.

Survivors include his wife, Edna, of Lusk; two sons, Ken Percy and Steven Percy, both of Casper; one daughter, Kris Martin of Lusk; one brother, Richard Percy of Athens, Tenn.; one sister, Marion Schellenberg of Seattle, Wash. and four grandchildren.

For those who wish, memorials to the Niobrara County Golf Course will be appreciated by the family.

Peet Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
