Orval Allen

Orval Allen, age 91, of Lusk passed away on Friday, August 26, 2005 at the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, Wyoming. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 1, 2005 at the Lusk Cemetery. Pastor Jason Playle, Lusk Alliance Church, will conduct the services.

Orval was born on July 9, 1914 to Charles and Anna Ingram Allen, seven miles south of Lusk in Royal Valley. He later returned to Royal, Nebraska with his family.

In 1933 he met and later married Beatrice Vraspier. This union lasted for 47 years until her death in 1979. He later married Diana Haynes.

Orval and his family returned to the Lusk area in 1939 where they set up ranching and buying cattle from Rosie Martin with the helping hand of Bill Magoon. They later moved to the Walt Rymill Ranch where they resided for several years. They later moved to Lusk where Orval was employed by the Lusk Police Department from 1972 until 1980. In 1980 he joined Lusk Parks and Cemetery Department and enjoyed working until 1992. He also worked at the Coffee Cup and most recently he worked at the Buffalo Bill Village in Cody, Wyoming until October 1999 when family illness forced retirement.

In his spare time Orval mowed yards and plowed gardens for many people in Lusk. He also enjoyed carpentry work, planting trees, gardening, fishing, and traveling. He enjoyed his kids and grandkids and always remembered fondly the many water fights they had.

After retiring, Orval and Diana traveled to Yuma and Quartzite, Arizona for the winter. They found fun and exciting jobs along the way and had many opportunities to meet wonderful people.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Beatrice; son Eugene, and his daughter Cindie Allen Giles; two brothers and one sister.

He is survived by his wife, Diana of Lusk; son, Lonald and his wife Sue Carol from Lexington, Kentucky; daughter Kimberly Rivenburg from Wisconsin; brother Burton Allen of Lusk; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren.

A memorial has been established for the family.

Cicmanec-Pier Funeral Home in Lusk is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
