Obituary Of Mrs. Doris Marie Reece

Doris Marie Reece, affectionately known as Dod to relatives and friends, was born in Crawford October 9, 1929 and died September 30, 1965 at the Crawford Memorial Hospital at the age of 35.

She was the second daughter of Dave and Lily Mansfield. She lived in Sioux County southeast of Glen with her family where she attended county school in the home district. In 1947 she graduated from Sioux County High School, then she taught 3 years in the rural schools of Sioux County, first in district 48, then in 61 and later in No. 2.

On December 31, 1948 she married Bob Reece in the Congregational church in Crawford. Four children were born; Donna Marie, age 15, Bobby Allen, 14; Steven Lynn 11 and Ricky Wayne 4. The first two years of their married life they lived in Rushville then in Crawford. They then moved to the home place southeast of Glen where they lived for 13 years and were residing at the time of her death.

She was baptized and received into the membership of the Methodist Church in 1961.

Surviving besides her husband and children are her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Mansfield; three sisters, Mrs. Wanda Staman of Crawford, Mrs. Jean Perlinski and Mrs. Betty Mack, both of Harrison; and one brother Merle Mansfield of Crawford, her mother and father-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ovid Reece.

Services were held at the Crawford Methodist Church on Sunday, October 3rd at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Leon Foster and Rev. James Keith officiating. Burial was in the Crawford Cemetery.

Mrs. James Keith, accompanied by the church organist, Mrs. Eldon Spray, sang "What a Friend We Have in Jesus", "Rock of Ages" and "Beyond the Sunset."

Pallbearers were: Francis Sterling of Hyannis, Roy Turnbull of Lusk, Harold Glendy, Octave Hanley, Jess Wasserburger and Benny Ward.
