August Henry Riehle

Funeral services for August Henry Riehle, 89, will be held Thursday, February 23, 1995, at 1 p.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church in Douglas, Wyoming with Pastor Delbert Dick of American Missionary Fellowship officiating. Interment will be in the Douglas Park Cemetery.

Mr. Riehle died Sunday, February 19, 1995, at the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper. He was born January 13, 1906, in Holden, Missouri the son of Jacob and Lena (Junger) Riehle and lived in the Holden area until moving to Wyoming in 1917 with his family to a homestead in the Dry Creek area, near Bill. He started his education in Holden, and finished at schools in the Dry Creek area. In 1929 he made his own homestead 25 miles northeast of Bill at the head of Cow Creek. He was married to June Good on May 3, 1935 in Casper. They made their home near Bill, and in 1938 they moved to his homestead where he raised and enjoyed his family. In 1950 they bought a ranch on Lightning Creek, and they continued living there until the time of his death.

He is survived by his wife, June, of Douglas; two children Wayne Henry Riehle of Douglas and Donna June Dixon of Lance Creek; one sister, Mary Steinle of Bill; two brothers, Raymond Riehle of Harrisburg, Penn. and George Riehle of Douglas; five grandchildren, Pam Dick of Buffalo, Wyoming, Lori Swayer of Andover, Minnesota, John Riehle of Douglas, Tom Dixon of Emmonak, Alaska; and Ken Dixon of Lance Creek; three great-grandchildren, Joshua and Brandon Swayer of Andover and Taylor Dick of Buffalo; and numerous nieces and nephews. August was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Herbert and Rowland Riehle; and three sisters, Dora Riehle, Pauline Roesch, and Anna Jarmon. Serving as pallbearers will be Earl Reed, Don Pellatz, Gene Wollen, Fay Edison, Max Miller, and Ben Middleton. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be all of his many friends.

A memorial to the American Missionary Fellowship or to the choice of the donor would be appreciated by the family. The Converse Funeral Chapel of Douglas is in charge of arrangements. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Thursday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
