Fess Roseberry, age 89, of Lance Creek, Wyoming passed away on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2005 at the VA Hospital in Cheyenne. A graveside funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday Oct. 7, 2005 at the Dellview Cemetery in Manville with Pastor Gary Walker officiating. A memorial service will be held at a later date in the Oil City, Penn. area.
Fess was born on March 28, 1916. He married Lillie Fouch in 1938. They had seven children.
Fess was a veteran of World War II. He worked for the New York Highway Department, later working for the Pennsylvania Railroad. He had a great love for trains especially the steam engine. He retired from Joy Manufacturing and moved to Lance Creek in 1979.
He married his second wife Paula Fern Snyder Johnson on July 25, 1964 and combined families with her four children. In 1969 and 1970 they had two more beautiful daughters, Holly Jo and Lisa.
Fess was an avid hunter, how ironic he passed from this life on the first day of hunting season, his favorite time of the year. He had unconditional love for his family and was a family man first and foremost. He enjoyed gardening, had quite a sense of humor and enjoyed telling stories.
Fess is survived by his wife of 41 years, Paula Fern of Lance Creek; and his children, Junior Roseberry, Rosemary Britt, Tom Roseberry, Bruce Roseberry, Autumn Gomez, Gus Johnson, Michele Smith, Zelma Johnson, Gwen Riter, Holly Jo Roseberry, Lisa Johnson; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Lillie Roseberry, two sons, Earl and Ormine Roseberry; his siblings, Arch, Emery, Ruth, Jim and Jane Roseberry.
A memorial has been established American Heart Association, American Lung Association, Niobrara County Library in Lusk, Oil City, Pennsylvania Library or to your favorite charity in Fess' memory.
Cicmanec- Pier Funeral Home in Lusk is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
