Vigil Service for Dom Ruiz, age 49, were held Sunday, July 30, 1995, at Bader Funeral Home in Lusk with Father Patrick Shea officiating. The Funeral Mass was held Monday, July 31, at St. Leo's Catholic Church in Lusk with Father Shea officiating. Burial followed at 2 p.m. in the Oregon Trail Veterans Cemetery at Evansville.
Mr. Ruiz died early Thursday, July 27, 1995, at his home in Lusk. He was born September 28, 1945, in Lamesa, Tex., the son of Eugenio and Margarite Ruiz. He was educated in Hobbs, New Mexico.
During his adult life he was employed by Arco Oil and Gas, Mossholders Furniture in Casper and the Wyoming Women's Center in Lusk. He married Trava Crist of Hobbs on November 15, 1968. Dom was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church in Lusk.
Survivors include his wife, Trava Ruiz of Lusk; three sons, Jerry and his wife Suzie of Japan, Jon Ruiz and his fiancé Ellen Scott of Laramie, and Shannon Ruiz also of Laramie; two daughters, Teresa Cady and her husband Scott of Gillette and Michelle Ruiz of the family home in Lusk; also grandchildren Matthew James and Kelli Jo Cady and a baby due to Jerry and Suzie in September; his parents, Eugenio and Margarite Ruiz of Hobbs, N.M.; three brothers, Eugenio Ruiz Jr. of Hobbs, N.M., Nick Ruiz of Albuquerque, N.M., and Joe Ruiz also of Albuquerque; two sisters, Cookie Quiroz of Hobbs, N.M. and Vicki Jensen of Albuquerque.
