Al Rundquist Found Dead Sat.

Al Rundquist, 74, a man of varied although often hidden talents was found dead in his trailer home in west Lusk about 3:00 p.m. Saturday by Mrs. Helen Lincoln. He was evidently the victim of a heart condition.

Mr. Rundquist was born in Harrington, Kan. He homesteaded in this area in 1913 and has lived here ever since. His special interest was mining and he likely had more knowledge about the hill immediately west of Lusk, commonly called the mining hill, than any other individual.

In his younger days he was an accomplished violinist and thrilled local audiences with his renditions of classical music. During one year he played before the king and queen of England and the king and queen of Sweden. In later years his hands became stiff with arthritis and his violin was silenced. At the time of his death he was still in possession of a violin thought to be very valuable which Mrs. Lincoln had been keeping for him. The instrument has been turned over to his sister, Mrs. Florence Cole of Colorado Springs, Colo.

Mr. Rundquist was an outstanding athlete in his younger days and was especially noted for his ability on the baseball field and as a boxer and bronc rider. An expert draftsman and artist, he was the designer of the George Lathrop Monument two miles west of Lusk. He was somewhat of an expert on Wyoming and western history. Along with the late RRalph Olinger and the late Jim Griffith Sr., he located the site of the Battle of Warbonnet in the 1930's. He drew maps depicting the action near Montrose, Nebr.

The Rev. C. W. Jervis of the First Baptist Church officiated at the services Tuesday morning. Casket bearers were C. E. Marvin, A. F. DeCastro, Don Taylor, Carl Lund, Wes Wolfe, Eddie Plumb. Mrs. A. F. DeCAstro played the organ for the only music at the simple ceremony. There was no obituary.

Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery.

Mr. Rundquist never married. He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Cole, and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Carl Rundquist.
