James A. Russell

James A. Russell was born Oct. 28, 1894 at Cheyenne, Wyo. the son of George and Marcia Russell. He died Oct. 15, 1983 at Michael Manor Nursing Home in Douglas.

He was a veteran of World War I, serving in the U.S. Army. On June 2, 1930, he was married to Virginia M. Marshall at Kimball, Nebr. They came to Lance Creek in 1932 where he was employed in the oil field and also operated a small cattle ranch. He had followed rodeos and was a trick rider when he was young. He was a member of the American Legion.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia, in 1968; his parents, two sisters and two brothers.

He is survived by seven nieces and nephews, many other relatives and friends.

Services were held Wednesday Oct. 19 at 2 p.m. at Peet Mortuary Chapel in Lusk with the Rev. Frank Blish officiating. Organist was Minerva Watson.

Pallbearers were LeRoy Redfield, Duane Predmore, Elmer Nelson, Walt Kant, Jack Hammond, and Sven Johnson. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery.

Arrangements were by the Peet Mortuary.
