Last Rites Held For Mrs. Russell

Mrs. James Russell, 72, of Lance Creek died at the Niobrara County Memorial Hospital in Lusk, December 11. Funeral services were conducted from the Peet Mortuary Friday at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Richard Korns of Manville officiating. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery.

Mrs. J. P. Watson was organist and accompanied Mrs. Jack Hammond and Mrs. Richard Korns as they sang "Beautiful Isles of Somewhere" and "Little Brown Church in the Dale."

Casketbearers were Jack Hammond, Richard Kant, Harry Varra, Sven Johnson, Walter Reed and Ray Austin.

Virginia M. Russell was born December 30, 1895, in Fort Worth, Tex. to Walter and Carol Marshall. She received her education in Texas.

In the 1920's and early 30's she was employed by the Wyoming Bank Examiner and worked in several banks.

She married James A. Russell in 1930 at Kimball, Nebr., and they came to Lance Creek in 1932 to operate a small cattle ranch. The couple had no children.

She belonged to Niobrara County Republican Woman's Club and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She will be remembered by friends and neighbors for her willingness to help in times of trouble.

Her parents and a brother died previously. Survivors include her widower Jim of the family home.
