Lawrence Savage

Lawrence Savage, 90, of Laramie, died Friday, September 4, 1998 at Ivinson Memorial Hospital in Laramie.

He was born July 25, 1908 in Wilber, NE, a son of Edward J. and Rose (Chiszum) Savage. He was raised In Nebraska and attended public schools there. He also attended Crete Business College in Crete, NE.

Mr. Savage married Aimee Jones in Harrisburg, NE, June 29, 1929. They were married for 69 years.

At the age of 22, Mr. and Mrs. Savage moved to Wyoming.

He was employed by Safeway and managed the Lusk Safeway store from 1940 - 1951.

He retired from Safeway after 36 years of dedication to the supermarket corporation.

Mr. Savage had many hobbies and interests. He was considered an outdoor enthusiast for his love of fishing and his time spent at the family cabin in the Snowy Range Mountains. He was also a University of Wyoming sports fan.

He held season tickets for the university athletics for over 45 years. Trains were also a favorite hobby and interest for him. But he will be remembered for his photographs of scenic places and vacations with the family. However, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were one of his greatest loves.

Mr. Savage was a member of many clubs, organizations and services for the Laramie community. He belonged to the Masonic Temple Association, Lions Club and Shriners.

In 1992 he was awarded the UW Athletics outstanding booster award. He was also a member of the Baptist church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and three sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Aimee; two children, Beverly Cates, Fort Collins, CO and Kale Savage, Los Angeles; three grandchildren, Linda Dudley, Denver, Lana Rucker, Littleton, CO and Gary Cates, Fort Collins; two great-grandchildren, Nicholas Rucker, Littleton and Adrien Dudley, Denver.

Funeral services were September 9 at the Buck-Heggie Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Jackson officiating.

Interment was at Green Hill Cemetery.

Casketbearers were members of Masonic Lodges 3 and 32.
